- Houston Brook Falls — A .25-mile path concludes at the 40-foot falls, with pools and cascades above.
- Pierce Pond Stream Falls and Gorge — A relatively flat 3.5-mile section of the Appalachian Trail that follows the stream, which has lovely cascading falls and a gorge. The trail connects Pierce Pond with the Kennebec River.
- Austin Gorge (in Moscow) — A .25-mile jeep track off a dirt road takes you to a dramatic little gorge. But the banks to the water are steep!
- Moxie Mountain (in Caratunk) — A gorgeous mountain, just shy of 3,000 feet, with two trails up. The south trail (from Heald Pond Road) is 1.6 miles and parts are fairly steep.
- Kelly Mountain (in Brighton) — Down the back roads of loggers, you can find a 0.6-mile unmarked jeep path to a tall tower with, I hear, fantastic views. (I was too scared to climb, but the tower looked sturdy.)
