  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy to modertae

The public is allowed to walk (and snowmobile) the approximately 1.5-mile dirt road to the cell tower. The views of Range Pond from the 820-foot summit opening are nice for not much effort.

In the winter, it could be a fun x-c ski if you feel confident going down hills. There are also other intersecting snowmobile paths in the forest here. I hiked a 4.3-mile loop over a stream and by a pond. On a mild Saturday afternoon recently, I didn’t run into anyone else.

You can park off to the side of the entrance road before the gate. At 0.2 miles, you’ll reach your first intersection with a snowmobile track. Head right, and continue another 0.6 miles to another junction with a snowmobile trail. Stay straight (right), and walk the final 0.6 miles to the tower. There is a 0.25-mile loop at the top. I took a right at the cell tower and walked the loop counter-clockwise to reach the view. (There is a snowmobile trail headed off the summit going north that I didn’t map—one of several I didn’t explore in the area here.)

Undercover Hiker has a nice write-up about the hike.

Directions: There is a small area to park near the gate to the cell tower road, which is marked 71 (but if you google 71 North Raymond Road, you get a different location). There is a prominent sign for the cell tower.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
