Bond Mountain, Newfield
The .6-mile trail to the easterly lookout on Bond Mountain is unmarked and unblazed, but easy to follow. For most of the way up, you follow an old logging road as it makes switchbacks up the mountain. At roughly .4 miles, after you’ve done two switchbacks, you’ll see a cairn on your left marking the footpath to the open grassy spot with views, which is just another few hundred yards or so through the woods. The elevation here is roughly 800 feet.
Directions: From Route 11, if you’re traveling west toward New Hampshire, you’ll make a left onto Bond Spring Road, which is actually still Route 11. Go roughly a mile, and you’ll see a pullover on the right, with a gate and pipe for a freshwater spring. The logging track up the mountain is beyond the gate.
