QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Sights: interesting rock formations, ledges

This is a big park near downtown Biddeford, about 140 acres, and founded in 1896. Its trail system — a combo of wide and narrow trails — can be a bit confusing. If you stick with the blazed trails, you’ll be fine. There does seem to be some unmarked trails which I think are mostly access trails from local neighborhoods? I think one goes out to Winding Creek Lane, for instance. And I ended up following an unofficial path that was blazed orange that ended up at West Street.

This park is quite cool. There are so many interesting rock formations (erratics, perhaps?), rock ledges, a few scramble-able cliffs, and water pools.  The red trail takes you to a small waterfall and up a sparkly stream with moss-covered banks. There was a tent sent up at the pool below the falls when I visited (spring, 2016). Not sure who lives there!

Directions: The parking lot is off Route 9, across from George Street and Parent Ave.
