Behind a row of townhouses, you’ll find a 9.3-acre preserve, with a 2-acre pond, close to the high school. There’s a small side trail to a view of the pond.
The best view is right at the start: at times, you can see Mount Washington from the parking lot!
Directions: Across from the South Portland High School upper parking lot, turn left onto Preservation Lane. At the end of this short street, there is parking for about four cars. Directly in front of the lot, you’ll see the trail, which heads into the woods through a break in the low stone wall a few feet from the edge of the small parking area.
