Ellsworth Trail, Ellsworth

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: N/A
  • Trail Mileage: 1.3 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: fields, woods, paved path, train tracks

The paved 1.3 mile urban trail is tucked behind roads and runs alongside the train tracks. The best place to park is Ellsworth High School. If the gate is closed to the school—which it was when we visited—just walk along the tracks back toward Lejok Street where there’s a break in the fence that separates the train tracks from the trail. The path is not plowed in the winter, I believe.

Directions: The best place to park is at Ellsworth High School, preferably when school is not in session. You can pick up the two ends of the trail at Falls Court Road or at the junction of Birch Avenue and Spring Street.
