Foss Road Sports Complex, Saco

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: more than 1.4 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Bass Pond, playing fields, woods

The highlight of this trail system is the little Bass Pond, which has a dock for catch-and-release fishing. (Swimming is not allowed.)

Some parts of the trail system through the woods, when we visited in June, 2022, were a touch overgrown. I did read that the town grooms these wide trails in the winter for skiing and snowshoeing, however, so they might be better for those modes of transport!

There is more information about the trails here.

Directions: The trails make loops around and close to Bass Road, which is at the end of Foss Road. Drive down the road, past the playing fields, until you reach a parking area on the left. You’ll see a dirt road curving left, continuing past the lot — follow this on foot. When you see a gated path on your left, turn here to access the trail system and the pond, which will be ahead and to the left.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
