George Gould Nature Trail, Waldoboro

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: .9 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: fields, stream, forest, former school grounds

Behind the currently shuttered AD Gray middle school is a rather nice, short loop trail, just under one mile, that brings you through the woods, along a stream, to a meadow, and back to the school fields. It is marked with blue blazes and easy to follow. Just note that when you come to the meadow, turn left and walk along the edge of the field until you see the trail reenter the woods at the bottom of the hill. (My map isn’t quite accurate, since you walk along the edge of the meadow and not in the forest, as it appears on the map.)

Directions: The old school is behind the library, on School Street. Drive to the back parking lot of the school, and look for the trail sign at the edge of the fields, at the far end of the tennis courts.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
