This there-and-back short trail, protected by the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, takes you to a rocky outcrop on Winnegance Bay. From trailhead to sea it’s a little over half a mile. If you look closely at the rocks, you might see a mysterious carving in the rock, possibly made by the Abenaki Indians, who lived, hunted and fished in this region for many years. The view here is astonishing, the seaside rocks sunny and warm.
Additionally, the trail, especially at the start, is fairly wide and smooth, so easy to navigate. The trail goes up and over a hill, and at points you can look down into the forest floor below you from a good elevation.
Directions: Follow Rt. 209 from Bath 2.4 miles to the Winnegance Store. Take a right on High Street, which eventually becomes Campbell Pond Road. About 2.2 miles from the store, take a right on Birch Point. Parking is along the roadside 1 mile down on the left.
