Head of Falls, Waterville

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 14 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~.5 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Kennebec River, old mills

I heard from a local that the plan is to fix up the dirt track along the Kennebec River in this city park into a pleasant riverside walkway, and to extend the path. That would be really great, if accurate. Right now, the road is muddy and littered, and people drive their cars along it. Not sure why, or what they’re up to. It winds up at the rail yard. The Two Cent Bridge part of the park is nice, though. In this park, like other parks in Waterville, I saw tents set up by homeless people.

Directions: The park’s access road is off Front Street, directly opposite Temple Street.
