This is more like a bump than a mountain, but I’ll take any elevation in these parts! The Higgins Mountain trail is maintained by the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, and after a short uphill walk, offers views from bedrock outcrops on the mountain. You can even see the sea in the distance. The highest elevation here is 259 feet. This is a lovely place to visit. In 2018, the land trust extended the trail, adding a loop at the top of the hill.
Directions: The trailhead is off Route 127, a little less than 1,000 feet from the intersection of Route 127 with Cunningham Lane, and about 500 feet from Higgins Farm Road.
