The trail here when we visited was a little overgrown and unkempt. But while that made for some difficulty walking at times, it wasn’t enough to detract from the charm of the spot, and perhaps was the reason we got it all to ourselves. The land is protected by Sebasticook Regional Land Trust.
In 0.3 miles from the trailhead, you’ll reach a short side trail blazed yellow to the bog. The footpath connects to a snowmobile trail. Turn right and follow it about 0.15 mile to the bog’s edge.
The main trail continues another 0.5 miles through woods and a small meadow. It concludes with a 0.5-mile loop near Bacon Brook and the bog. It’s hard to see the bog through the trees unless you go off path.
Directions: The trailhead and small parking area is off Route 202, about 3.5 miles from downtown Unity on the left (east).
