Keay Brook Preserve, Berwick

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 86 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.25-mile loop
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Salmon Falls River, Keay Brook

For not much effort, you get a sweet reward at this 86-acre Great Works Regional Land Trust preserve. If you do the easy ~1.25-mile loop trail counter-clockwise, you’ll come to the wide Salmon Falls River first, before completing the loop along the narrower Keay Brook. This stretch along the brook is peaceful and pretty. I wonder if you can swim here?

Much of the trail system follows a wide, even track, making for gentle walking. You can also cut right through the center along a wide track to reach the riverside spots as quickly as possible, in about 0.4 miles.

There is the skeleton of an old rusty bridge spanning the brook at one point. It looks too dangerous to cross but is interesting to check out.

Directions: The land trust gives the address as 251 Hubbard Road. The parking area is large enough for several cars.
