Klondike Mountain, Lubec

Klondike Mountain got its name from a devious get-rich scheme concocted by a reverend and his buddy in 1897. You can read about it on the Downeast Coastal Conservancy’s website. The mountain, which is just a bit over 800 feet, I believe, has some rather nice views from its open summit. The mountain sits in a 46-acre preserve that includes a trail off to a “pond.” That pond appears to be an inlet? Unless I missed something rather obvious. The whole trail network is under one mile.

Directions: From Route 189, turn onto North Lubec Road. Go about a mile, and you’ll see the parking area on the left.
