Map shows trails in Waldo County
- Fernald’s Neck Preserve — This is a lovely walk, up to four miles if you do the whole thing, on a 326-acre spit of protected on Megunticook Lake. Expect roots, rocks, and a couple of short, steep hills. No dogs allowed.
- Ducktrap River Preserve — This preserve offers is a there-and-back trail with a 1.2-mile loop at the end, for a 5.6-mile walk. Across the street from the Route 52 trailhead, you can ski or walk along a snowmobile path to the seven-mile Tanglewood trail system.
- Tanglewood Trails — Around the camp, you can walk at least seven miles in the woods and along Ducktrap River. The Turner Falls area is particularly lovely. The walking is fairly easy, and the trails are well signed.
- Murray Preserve — This 10-acre preserve includes cobble-stone footage on the bay. There’s no trail but it’s a lovely spot to visit.
