This is a large conservation tract, protected by the Kennebec Land Trust, but the trail is quite short. It leads into the woods from Bamford Hill Road for about .7 mile before linking up to snowmobile trails. (Google spells this road “Banford Hill Road.”) Theoretically you can follow the snowmobile path back to the road to make a little loop. But while the footpath is well blazed and fairly easy to follow, I lost the snowmobile track when it led into a meadow. (I visited here in early fall, 2017).
There is also a lovely view at the Sturtevant Farm, off Baldwin Hill road, .3 miles from the intersection with Fayette Corner Road.
If you hiked down Asa-Hutchinson Road to Baldwin Hill, and then back to your car along Fayette Corner Road/Banford Hills Road, that could be a good loop.
Directions: From Route 41 in Readfield, turn left onto Main Street and continue for 6.1 miles, following Route 17. Turn left onto Fayette Corner Road. After 1.4 miles, this road turns into Bamford Hill Road. Continue for 0.3 miles. The trailhead will be on your right.
