Meadow Brook — Mill Stream Conservation Area, Brooksville

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure!
  • Trail Mileage: 0.3 one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Alewife passageway, Parker Pond, old mill, Mill Stream

When we visited in February 2022, this protected area had an impressive, but short wheelchair-accessible trail that brings you to a marvelous spot overlooking the point where Mill Stream flows from Parker Pond. There are some informational panels and places to sit at the end of the path, as well. The Blue Hill Heritage Trust has restored the Alewife fish passageway here, which is very exciting — and a sight everyone should see if they can! The fish flinging and leaping their way upstream in spring to spawn is incredible.

A side trail brings you to the ruins of an old mill. I wonder if more trails are in the works for this preserve?

Directions:The parking lot and trailhead are on the right 1 mile down Bagaduce Raod in Brooksville from the intersection of 175 (Bridge St/Frank’s Flat) & 176. The parking area can fit at least 5 cars.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
