This little town park consists mostly of open fields with paved, wheelchair-accessible paths encircling them. There are remarkably few trees. You can make about a half-mile loop if you stick to the trails closest to the perimeter.
The public space has a small picturesque pond, an amphitheater, gazebo, skateboard park, and pickleball courts. It also includes a historic brick arch called the Danish Village Archway that’s just sitting on one of the paths close to a park entrance on Sawyer Road, unconnected to any other structure. According to a nearby panel, it is all that remains of a fancy hotel complex that opened in 1930 that was meant to resemble an old village (specifically, Ribe, in Denmark, which was a bustle of commercial activity in the 8th century). The 100-unit complex is long gone (burned or demolished) and the arch was moved to the park in 2015.
Directions: There’s a parking lot with about 28 spaces at 5 Durant Drive.
