This is a walk just off Route 1, a good one in particular for the people staying at the Wagon Wheel Motel. There are a couple of picnic tables set out in a pretty grove and on high knoll above the two brooks in the preserve. The trail seems to be well-maintained, but be prepared to hike up and down a couple of hills. The walk from end to end is a little under a mile, and is quiet and peaceful.
The southern end of the trail links up to the Eastern Trail. Close to the Eastern Trail is a little side trail to the small Goosefare Pond and a granite culvert built when the Portland, Saco, & Portsmouth Railroad, the first railway between Boston and Maine, was constructed in 1841-1842. You can also see the remnants of a dam built in 1947 to create a skating pond.
Directions: There are two parking locations, one close to the Wagon Wheel Motel (720 Portland Road) and the Eastern Trail trailhead, and the other behind a gasoline station slightly north on the same side of the road (742 Portland Road). The trailhead kiosk at the gas station can be found at the north corner of the lot
