Mousam Way South Trail, Sanford

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 1-mile from Emery St. to School St.
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Mousam River, wetland, wheelchair accessible

At this little walk, you can span the length of a wetland on a solidly built bridge. The rest of the trail follows the Mousam River. This walk is quiet and peaceful. I was here in the winter, and the trails are well blazed. Additionally, you can walk along the wheelchair-accessible bike path that swings out wide away from the narrow walking path.

This is part of a longer trail system in Sanford that allows walkers to explore the Mousam River. You can also hike Mousam Way North, and Mousam Way (Center), and you can keep walking on the trails behind the high school!

Check out all the trails I’ve walked along this stretch of Mousam River in one map.

Directions: You can pick up the trailhead at Emery Street or from School Street. It may be easier to park at Emery Street. You’ll see a big sign for the trail at the start of the parking lot. If you pull in farther into the lot, you will see another trailhead on your left. If you continue walking down the parking lot, you’ll see a third trailhead for the loop trail.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
