The PAWS Trail acronym stands for Prescott and Washington School Trail, rather than anything dog related. Although it’s a fine trail for a pup! The trail is a joint effort by the Washington Recreational Trail Committee, Washington Lakes Watershed Association and Prescott Memorial School.
The blue-blazed trail begins behind the school’s baseball field, where you’ll find the trailhead kiosk.
The first few feet of the trail begin on a snowmobile path, and then quickly branch off to the right, where the path descends down a moderate hill for about 0.25 mile to reach a 0.25-mile loop. The loop gets close to the wetland area of Little Medomak Brook. It would be nice if the trail organizers built an overlook down there one day!
Directions: The trailhead is located behind the baseball field at Prescott Memorial School, at 100 Waldoboro Road (Route 220). The public is invited to walk the trail and park at the school when it is not in session.
