Perley Pond-Northwest River Preserve, Sebago

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 149 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~.4 mile one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: upland forest, Perley Pond (off access road)

There isn’t a walking path on this rectangular preserve that includes frontage on the Northwest River and Perley Pond. Instead, you can walk a little ways along a driveway that bisects the preserve. This wheelchair-accessible road cuts through upland forest. I think much of the rest of the land here is wetlands. If you do walk down the driveway, at some point you cross onto private land — it was not clear when — and you’ll see two camps near the river.

Perley Pond can be accessed a little ways up from the start of the driveway. It’s a warm 29-acre pond.

Directions: The preserve is off Folly Road, much of which is dirt, I think. If you’re getting to Folly Road from Peaked Mountain Road, note that this road is not maintained during the winter but is decently passable in the summer.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
