Pettingill Park Trail and Union Street Greenway, Auburn

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 45 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.5 miles in netrok
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: city parks, woods

The Pettingill Park trail and the Union Street Greenway provide a part-urban, part woodsy walk. The park is 45 acres, with playgrounds, playing fields, sledding hills and trails. On one end (the northern end) is a short forested loop, about half a mile, which is connected via an easy trail to Pettingill Park and then to the small Chestnut Park. From one end to the other, including the forested loop, it’s under 1.5 miles.

The paths in the park areas of Pettingill and Chestnut are wheelchair accessible. The one in Pettingill swings by a small fish pond. But while the greenway trail connecting them is flat and easy, it is not completely accessible and includes two long staircases.

Directions: Pettengill Park can be accessed by pedestrians from several locations, and parking is available along the Pettingill Park road near the Auburn Parks Department and in the park itself, as well as off Gamage Avenue right before it meets Hampshire Street.
