Pott’s Point Preserve, Harpswell

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 1 acre
  • Trail Mileage: 0.5 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: tide pools, a gravel beach, views of Casco Bay

To reach Pott’s Point, you have to park at the small wharf at the end of Harpswell Neck. You then walk down a charming private lane past seaside bungalows and cottages to reach the end of the land. There’s no real trail once you get to the beach, but you can walk over the rocks and seaweed, and circle the point along a little scratched out path through the brush to make a small loop. The tide pools are big and clear. Some days, you can see Mt. Washington from the far end of the point.

The narrow lane is wheelchair accessible, and the short path down to the beach, while not wheelchair friendly, is easy to navigate.

Directions: Drive to the southern end of the Harpswell Neck Road (Route 123). Park as best you can along the road, without blocking the pier or Town Landing. Walk along the private Pott’s Point Road to the sand bar that connects the Preserve to Harpswell Neck. You may also walk along the shore below the high tide line.
