QUICK TRAIL FACTS
- Preserve Size: 154 acres
- Trail Mileage: ~1.4 miles in network
- Pets: yes
- Difficulty: easy
- Sights: field, woods, Gillespie Brook
The Purinton family, who go way back in this area, donated this 154-acre parcel to the Androscoggin Land Trust in 2001. The land trust has carved out about 1.4 miles of pretty walking paths here that follow a beautiful sylvan stream, the Little Gillespie Brook, and briefly take you onto a corner of the preserve’s 40-acre field. The trails can be wet, I have found.
Directions: (From the land trust:) Follow Route 196 in Lewiston north to the intersection with South Lisbon Road in Lewiston. Turn left onto South Lisbon Road and follow to intersection with Crowley Road. Turn left onto Crowley Road and follow until the Town of Sabattus where it turns to Bowdoinham Road. Continue on Bowdoinham Road until you cross into the Town of Lisbon where it becomes the Store Road. At the intersection with West Road, turn left onto West Road and follow past the field on the right. When the fields turn to woods again, look for a smallish parking area on the right, adjacent to the trailhead.
I am looking for family of Pamela Sue Purinton, She was born approximately Jan 23, 1945.
