Redington Pond Trail, Carrabassett Valley

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure, part of Sugarloaf Outdoor Center
  • Trail Mileage: 4.4 miles in loop
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Redington Pond

This trail is part of the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center‘s miles and miles of nordic skiing and mountain biking trails. As a separate walk, it offers a nice easy path for hikers and a view over Redington Pond. The loop, which corresponds to Trail #8 on the Outdoor Center map, is a little over four miles. When I hiked this in the winter of 2016, parts of it passed through areas that were fairly heavily logged. To access the pond, look for a smaller trail off the wider main path. It should be marked. There are also mountain bike trails near the pond.

Directions: From Route 27, the main road, turn onto Redington Pond Road. Go a little over a mile. When the road curves to the left, you’ll see a bunch of mailboxes in front of you and a drive on your left. You can park off to the side here or, I believe, carry on into the drive to park by the trail.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
