Rines Wetland and Wildlife Preserve, Unity

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 150 acres
  • Trail Mileage: .9 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Bog Brook, wetlands

When we visited the wetlands here in May, we saw lots of warblers and heard a sora waterbird. The 1-mile one-way trail appears to follow an old track (built along a 12,000-year-old esker) and takes you along the edge of the marsh to a small lookout area. There is a bench along the way to pause and listen to bird song.

Directions: The preserve is on the south side of Route 139, approximately 2.3 miles west of Main Street in downtown Unity. There is a small place to park and a trailhead kiosk. It’s about .3 miles from the trailhead to Moulton’s Mill Preserve.
