Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center trail, Scarborough

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 3,100 acres
  • Trail Mileage: .4 miles
  • Pets: no
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: lots of birds and marsh plants

I don’t always include on this site very short trails — this one is just about .3 miles long, with an extra leg stretching out into the marsh. But the amount of birdlife and plant life you can see on this narrow footpath, sandwiched between Route 9 and the marsh, is astonishing. Unfortunately, that plant life includes a lot of poison ivy! So take care, especially because the trail can get overgrown and it can be hard to avoid the leaves brushing against your ankles.

You can use the Audubon Center station guide to learn about the marsh and its wildlife.

Directions: The Center is 92 Pine Point Road, about .8 miles on the left after you turn off Route One in Scarborough. You can also check out the nature exhibits, rent a canoe or kayak, and shop at the Maine Audubon store.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
