Sky Lodge Trail, Moose River

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: N/A
  • Trail Mileage: 1.3 mile loop
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Sky Lodge, mossy forest

Sky Lodge is a stately resort surrounded by mown fields, with an interesting history and ownership (its current owner is Unity College). It has a 1.3-mile ski trail that is more suited for skis than hiking boots (it can be very wet). You can pick it up at the end of the grassy runway (which gives the lodge its name). A blazed path continues into the woods here, eventually hooking up to a snowmobile path before turning onto another footpath after about .2 miles. The other end of the path comes out behind the lodge’s model railroad museum.

Directions: The address is 3 Sky Lodge Drive, Moose River. After crossing the Moose River in Jackman, continue on Route 201 north, toward Canada, and the lodge will be on your right in about 1.8 miles. Turn right down the drive and park in front of the main lodge. You can pop inside and ask the friendly staff for directions on how to find the path.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
