This pocket sanctuary doesn’t really qualify as a walk, but though it is small, it has a beautiful boardwalk to Fortunes Rocks Beach. So you can combine the tiny trail with a beachside stroll.
The Biddeford Pool Land Trust has erected a trailside kiosk here with a list of local birdlife. The birding in Biddeford is incredible.
There are a few other trails nearby in the neighborhood, which locals use as shortcuts. The whole neighborhood—on and off road—is a beautiful place to walk, especially off season. The fabulous East Point Sanctuary is on the other side of the point.
The one slightly disarming thing about Southpoint Sanctuary, and a few other short trails in Biddeford Pool, is that they seem to cross private property. But I believe walkers have the right of way, according to the land trust signs. Just be respectful, of course!
Directions: There are a couple of scratched out places along the sides of the sleepy 7th Street. From here, the trailhead is about 700 feet or so up the street to the left.
