St. George School (or Les Hyde Memorial) Trail, St. George

This was, to me, a surprisingly delightful and well-maintained trail behind the elementary school and library, with a really great view point and resting spot on an estuary. There are fairly flat ledges to sit or sun in, and it looks like it could be decent swimming? The forest trails are pretty, with some views over the marsh. The school and library are linked by a short forest path within this trail network.

Directions: You can find a path via the playground/playing area of the St George Elementary School, which is located at the end of Juniper Street and Elementary School Road. If you park in front of the school (during weekends and holidays), walk a bit past the playground and look for a blazed trail on your left. Additionally, you can access the trails from Jackson Memorial library driveway off Route 131 in Tenants Harbor, approximately 9.5 miles south of the intersection of Routes 131 and 1. The kiosk is located at the trailhead adjacent to the library.
