This approximately .9-mile loop starts off in a delightful meadow, with sea roses in season. If you do the loop clockwise, the trail then enters the woods and follows the shore of the Bagaduce River until you reach a spur trail to your left that continues along a spit of land. This mossy little area leads out to an open, rocky area with nice views of the cove, known as Grindle’s Eddy. It looks like you might be able to swim here? Or least the stalwart types among us could. The land does slope down from the parking area to the view, making for a a bit of a climb back.
Directions: From the junction of Routes 166 and 199 in Castine, follow Route 199 a few hundred feet northeast to the parking area on the right.
