Weald Bethel walking trails, Cherryfield

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 60 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.8 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Narragaugus River

The best way to access the town trail system is probably from the Weald Bethel Community Center, where trails head off in a couple directions. By far the most pleasant trail here is the River Trail, which follows the Narragaugus River for about half a mile, and which on a hot summer day stays fairly cool.

The rest of the paths make their way around the 60 acres, past some rope courses used by Edge, and by a lean-to for campers. You can also access the trail from a boat launch close to town, just 900 feet or so from downtown on Route 1 going south. The trails are more or less blazed, and the trail system includes a few trail signs.

Directions: The center is located at 7 Weald Bethel Lane, Cherryfield. From downtown Cherryfield, traveling along Route 1, the center is about half a mile on your left. You’ll see signs for the trails on the left side of the center if you’re facing it, and behind it.
