Whitney Brook Trail, Canton

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 1.2 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Whitney Brook, fields

This is a pleasant trail system that lies between the brook and School Street (Route 140). If you start at the parking area (off of School Street) and walk all the way to the little Canton Heritage Park, it’s roughly 1.2 miles. Or, conversely, you can go the other direction! A series of small loops make the return walk a bit more fun and interesting. The trail is well marked — someone takes pretty good care of it. At one point, as you cross Bog Brook, you must walk a short ways along School Street before rejoining the trail. More info at Maine Trail Finder.

Directions: You can park either at the old municipal building on Cross Street, or roughly a mile down School Street at a large unpaved lot. You’ll find the trailhead on the other side of the street.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
