Windham High School, Windham

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: ~.8 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: moderate
  • Sights: Pleasant River, high school

This is a short trail that runs briefly along the pretty Pleasant River. One loop wraps around a small wetland. This outer loop around the wetland has some boardwalks that needed repair when I visited in the fall of 2017.

The trails are unmarked, and while the large loop is easy to follow, the shorter loop around the wetland is easy to miss. When the large loop turns in, away from the river, continue along the river to stay on the short loop.

The walking can be a bit rough in places, and to access the river, you must descend (and then ascend!) a very steep hill.

Directions: The Windham High School is off Route 202/ME 4 one mile south of the traffic circle with US 302. The best place to park is the parking lot near to the far end of the track. You’ll see a gravel road running behind one end of the track. It passes some athletic fields, and then drops down into the woods.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
