The trails listed below are just outside of Baxter State Park and are not part of Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area (directly to the southwest) or Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument (to the east).
- Trout Mountain — A 3-mile moderately easy hike to an 80-foot observatory tower with great views. You must not be scared of heights!
- River Pond Nature Trails — About 4.6 miles of trails in woods and along ponds with beautiful Katahdin views.
