- French Falls Recreation Area — You can walk a winding system of easy trails by the river here. The nicest section is along the blue trails.
- Jay Recreational Trails — The best part of this ~5-mile trail system is the field, the views behind it, and the trails that weave through it, close to the parking area on Wintertower Lane. Leave the meadows to wander through different forests.
- Spruce Mountain Conservation Area — This is a small place to x-c ski along the river — that is, when the snow conditions are good enough for grooming.
