The kind people who live in front of Davis Bog have allowed a path through their yard. You’ll see a small sign for the preserve and for parking off of Higgins Hill Road. Walk to the backyard and then into the woods. The length of the trail is 0.6 miles, and ends at the marsh. The preserve is 40 acres.
I love the description of this preserve as a “moss garden,” with moss, liverwort, and lichens.
Directions: The trailhead is located at 129 Higgins Hill Road, about one mile from Route 3. Park on the roadside and follow the blue paint blazes through the yard on a 1200-ft right-of-way downhill to the preserve.
