Doyle Preserve, Damariscotta

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 16 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1.4 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Pemaquid Pond

Doyle Preserve contains a little over one mile of trails that take you to the shores of the quiet Pemaquid Pond. To reach the end point of the red trail, you walk briefly along the narrowest of peninsulas for beautiful views over the pond. From the parking area to this end point, marked with a red icon on my map, is roughly .7 miles.

Directions: From Damariscotta, take the Biscay Road (intersects with Business Route 1 at McDonalds) for 2 miles and turn left onto Egypt Road (just before Pinkham’s Plantation, a landscaping business located on the right). Travel 1.7 miles and turn right on to Castaway Cove Road. Preserve parking area is 0.1 miles down on the right. The trail begins a little farther down Castaway Cove Road.
