Hansen Pond Preserve

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Trail Mileage: 1.3 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Hansen Pond

I finally visited this fantastic Three Rivers Land Trust preserve when it’s not frozen outside, and was amazed by the tranquility you find once you reach the pond. Sitting on the dock the land trust has put out, you’re unlikely to hear any sound except from the environment around you.

Along with the dock, the land trust has created an overlook with a squat bench where you can gaze out over the 30-acre pond and take in the stillness. Two kayaks and a canoe are available to use as long as you bring your own life vests.

The 1.3-mile trail follows both “pedestrian paths” and wider multi-use paths. Keep your eye out for where the pedestrian paths weave in and out of the multi-use trails. Though the snowmobile paths are cut with a narrow footpath from the amount of feet that pass through here, these sections tend to be grassier, sunnier and hotter. One pedestrian path even lets you to circumvent a steep hill. Overall, the trail is mostly flat, with one steep, little hill closer to the pond that you can’t avoid!

Directions: The relatively large parking area is on the east side of H Road, 0.3 miles north of Anderson Cove Rd (and 2.2 miles north of Romac Orchard).

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
