Hansen Pond Preserve, Acton

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 1.25 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Hansen Pond

I kind of wish I had walked here in the summer; the undeveloped pond looks like it is enticingly swimmable. The well-marked, there-and-back trail ends at a high bank with long views over the 30-acre pond. Three Acres Land Trust, which protects the pond and preserve, plans to make a boat access to the water in 2021.

When I visited the preserve in January, 2021, a 1.25-mile path—which mostly hews to old woods roads and multi-use trails—brings you all the way to the 30-acre pond. It’s fairly flat, with one steep, little hill closer to the pond. Other ATV trails intersect with the path.

Directions: The relatively large parking area is on the east side of H Road, 0.3 miles north of Anderson Cove Rd (and 2.2 miles north of Romac Orchard).

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
