Heart of Poland Conservation Area, Poland

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: ~2.8 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy with some steep sections
  • Sights: woods, quarry, brook, cave

In the Heart of Poland, you can leave behind Maine Street (Route 26), for a stroll in the woods. But be warned, this place is hilly! They get you right away — you’ll be panting in no time. Take care at the trailhead behind Ricker Library that you do not wander off to the left onto an old dump (lots of rusting snowmobiles here in September, 2016). The town trails are well marked — so look for the blazes. The trail system, about three miles or so all together, includes a little spur off to a quarry. This path continues, I presume it’s a snowmobile trail.

Directions: From Ricker Memorial Library, at 1211 Maine street, the trailhead is behind and to the right of the library. There is also another parking area on Tripp Lake Road, drive .75 miles from Route 26 on the left.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
