Hendricks Head Preserve, Southport

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 12 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~.3 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: pine forest

This is a wee, .4-mile or so Boothbay Land Trust walk to do in between lounging on the beautiful beach or looking for shells.

It looks like there is a new trail that allows you to make a little loop around the head here, if you walk on the road a short ways. I hope I am right and am not encouraging people to trespass.

Directions: From downtown Boothbay Harbor, head west on Route 27. Cross the Southport swing bridge and stay on Route 27 for two miles. Bear right at the monument by the Southport General Store onto Dogfish Head Road, then immediately left onto Beach Road. Go .3 miles, passing the entrance of the trail on the right and park at Hendricks Head Beach.
