- Mount Cutler — A favorite of locals and visitors. You can do a three-mile or so hike here. Some of the trails are quite steep. The views are lovely, especially in the fall. Bring a map if you can!
- Tenmile River Demonstration Forest — The name refers to the river, of course, but could also refer to the miles of walking you can do in this 535-acre forest that is a showcase for sustainable forestry.

When parking at the Mt Cutler parking lot in Hiram, Maine be very vigilant. Car windows smashed and wallet stolen. October 4. Not an isolated incident.
