The trail to beautiful Little Abol Falls starts at Abol Campground in Baxter State Park, one of the more popular trailheads for Katahdin. If you’re planning on hiking Katahdin, this is a great hike to tack on the day before your hike to limber you up.
The trail climbs steadily, but not steeply, for 0.8 miles, until you reach the remarkably clear and cold waters of Little Abol Stream. Bring a bathing suit to soak!

Directions: The trail leaves from the Ranger’s Station at Abol Campground. Parking can be challenging in the summer, when the day lot’s spaces fill up quickly with hikers going up Katahdin. Either plan on getting to the park very early or book a camping spot in the campground.
