This is an amazing town resource: a ~3-mile network of wide, smooth and accessible trails. Runners, dog walkers, hikers, strollers, wheelchairs — it’s great for all. The accessible trails make loops through forests and around playing fields; one not unpleasant section makes a little loop through the power line corridor.
There is a little footpath (which is rougher going than the rest) around a small vernal pond near the north end of the trail system.
Directions: You can park at a number of places on the school campuses to pick up the trails. One spot where you can pick up the trail is close to the running track. Park behind Bucksport’s high school, at 102 Broadway Street, and look for a paved path going up a hill and toward the running track. Follow that and look for the blue Miles Lane signs and the crushed gravel path heading into the woods.
