Mills Overlook

Newcastle, Lincoln County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 17 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1-mile loop
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy to moderate
  • Sights: Mills Overlook

From the high point of this Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust walk you can spy below the fish ladder that runs through the little village, a church spire, old houses, the Great Salt Bay and even the Camden Hills on a clear day. The roughly 0.7-mile loop is well marked, but it is easy to miss the spur to the right. If you do the loop counter-clockwise, it might be easier to see the spur when you begin looping back to the trailhead.

Directions: The official trailhead is off of Academy Hill Road opposite Saint Patrick’s Church, a short distance from Route 215. The church has granted permission for walkers to park in their lower lot (back right as you face the church).
