Mousam Way South Trail, Sanford

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 1-mile from Emery St. to School St.
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Mousam River, wetland

At this little walk, you can span the length of a wetland on a solidly built bridge. The rest of the trail follows the Mousam River. This walk is quiet and peaceful. I was here in the winter, and the trails are well blazed but there do appear to be other tracks (unplowed roads, perhaps) that intersect with the footpath, so keep your eye out for the trail markers.

Directions: You can pick up the trailhead at Emery Street or from School Street. It may be easier to park at Emery Street. You’ll see a big sign for the trail at the start of the parking lot. If you pull in farther into the lot, you will see another trailhead on your left. If you continue walking down the parking lot, you’ll see a third trailhead for the loop trail.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
