Otterbrook Nature Sanctuary

Windham, Cumberland County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 41 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~0.5 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: woods, brook

When I visited this 41-acre town preserve, off of Rocklinn Drive, there was a little place to pull over, but no sign for the preserve, just a small sign warning about ticks. You walk down a straight, wide, grassy path through trees to a clearing with abandoned tires, then veer right on a snowmobile trail and across a little bridge, and when the snowmobile trail splits, go right again. You’ll see a very faded sign for the trail, on the left. The path is hard to discern. Eventually, the trail ends after 0.5 mile at a viewing platform that is falling apart and doesn’t look safe to climb.

Directions: From River Road, turn onto Rocklinn Drive, and after Otter Drive and before the circle, look for a small pull-off for a car on the right.
