Otterbrook Nature Sanctuary, Windham

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 41 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~.5 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: woods, brook

When I visited this 41-acre town preserve, off of Rocklinn Drive, in October, 2016, there was a little place to pull over, but no sign for the preserve, just a small sign warning about ticks. You walk down a straight, wide path through trees to a clearing with abandoned tires, then veer right on a snowmobile trail and across a little bridge, and when the snowmobile trail splits, go right again. You’ll see a very faded sign for the trail, on the left. These signs have been posted along trees along the way, which is helpful, because the path is hard to discern. Eventually, the trail ends after 1/2 mile at a viewing platform that is falling apart and doesn’t look safe to climb.

Directions: From River Road, turn onto Rocklinn Drive, and after Otter Drive and before the circle, look for a small pull-off for a car on the right.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
