This is an amazing town trail that winds through forest and fields. It is designed to be accessible — part pavement and part packed bluestone gravel. The paved section can be picked up on the access road to the school, on Millard Harrison Drive; the turns the bend around the school offices and runs along Route 17.

The loop is just about 1.6 miles, and there are some small extensions you can add to it, including mown trails around the grasslands managed for bird habitat. The trail also connects to the trail system around Maranacook Community High School.

The town offers a comprehensive guide to its trails here.

Directions: From Readfield Corner — at the junction of Routes 41 and 17, go 0.3 mile north on Church Road. Turn right at an opening in the stone wall. The lot is very large. There’s also parking on the school access road, Millard Harrison Drive, in spaces on the side of the road.
