Salmon Falls Reserve

Lebanon, York County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 12 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 0.5 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: moderate
  • Sights: Salmon Falls, dam

A short trail at this Three Rivers Land Trust preserve brings you to river sights that are wonderful, dramatic, and varied! The path is easy to moderate, and easy to follow, but there are some steepish, short sections as you make your way to the river.

The preserve has blazed a ~0.5-mile loop within its preserve boundaries, but the best views are beyond its borders. If you head downriver, you’ll find an unofficial, but well-worn path that brings you to dams, derelict buildings of abandoned mills, and many falls and pools. A big, beautiful waterfall is right below the first dam. I followed the unmarked path for just under a mile, where it ended at a cool spot with a cascade flowing over rock ledges into a wide pool.

Directions: From Champion Street in New Hampshire, turn onto Prospect Hill Road, and park at the far end of Prospect Hill Cemetery on the right. It’s a small lot with many protruding roots.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
